I have a Xanax script and I use it as prescribed (for sleep). I don’t like the way it makes me feel if I have to be awake, so abuse is not a temptation.
Other than being able to pass a breath test is there a particular reason an adult would abuse benzos over drinking? Sounds like just a more expensive way to accomplish the same thing.
Never taken benzos, but alcohol always upsets my stomach, even if I haven’t drank a whole ton. Does this happen with benzos?
Xanax turns off a different portion of the brain. It feels more like “nothing can bother me”. If I’ve taken Xanax for my panic attacks, the house could be on fire and I’d be the dog with the coffee cup.
Alcohol always tends to feel like a cover up for emotions rather than a clearing out effect, hence why some people get emotional while drinking. Similar, but different at the same time.
IIRC they both act on GABA-A.
Alcohol also acts as an NMDA antagonist like ketamine or nitrous oxide, so the feeling is quite different from benzos
Alcohol increases my anxiety and makes my stomach upset while benzo (prescribed) actually calmed me during strong anxiety episodes without any apparent side effects.
I was very low and would order Benzos on the dark web. For me it was because they would know me tf out. I never really used them out of the house as they just leave a blank slot of where you went or what you did. Had the worst withdrawals and heard you can die from that, but the sick thing is I have a longing for that feeling all the time.
tl:dr - Depressed -> alprazolam-> sleep -> work -> repeat.
I mean as a teenager I was a drug dealer nicknamed the mad scientist getting his supply of RCs off the dark web so I get that appeal but grabbing it at the price of US healthcare seems less appealing, especially as an adult that can just pound a pint of whiskey instead.
Here they’re free with healthcare but booze isn’t so less expensive I guess
I’m not advocating benzo use but alcohol has to be one of the worst drugs to abuse, it’s horrible
I don’t get it? Anybody want to help me understand this. Joke I presume
From context, it looks like the user plans to abuse the drug, and the pharmacist is well aware the user plans to abuse it.
I support the user having a good time.
Ohhh the “haha drug addicts are funny” kinda thing. Got it thank you.
🙄
I know its memes and not much depth is expected, but I think its slightly more.
As in, Pharmacist is a socially acceptable profession. Xanax is a socially acceptable pharmaceutical. It is socially acceptable for a patient to take this medication. However, this particular person is planning to abuse the drug, while still maintaining social acceptability, and the pharmacist knows this too, and is giving a wink and a nod they are aware of it.
The joke being “we’re not dirty drug dealers and users, but really, for this case, we are, and we’re getting away with it being socially acceptable.”
Ok, but can someone explain what abuse of xanax entails? Is it a ‘fun drug’ of some sort? Oh wow. “benzodiazepine” Got it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alprazolam#Recreational_use “The physical dependence and withdrawal syndrome of alprazolam also add to its addictive nature.”
“A large-scale nationwide U.S. government study conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration concluded that, in the US, benzodiazepines are recreationally the most frequently used pharmaceuticals due to their widespread availability, accounting for 35% of all drug-related visits to hospital emergency and urgent care facilities.”
“Misuse of alprazolam and other benzodiazepines has been shown to cause cognitive impairment.”
"A 2016 randomized controlled trial stated that “overall, long-term benzodiazepine users may not be in their full cognitive state upon withdrawal”.[128] Similarly, a 2017 meta-analysis concluded that “a range of neuropsychological functions are impaired as a result of long-term benzodiazepine use, and that these are likely to persist even following withdrawal”.[130]
Super fun to abuse I’ve heard
Get sleepy, get addicted, try to stop, get some of the world’s worst withdrawals
I’m prescribed Xanax, but the lowest dose. It’s for my panic attacks, and it is an extremely fast acting, very effective drug that calms you down. I kind of just makes you not care about much and a little drowsy. I can imagine that in large doses, it would make one feel pretty damn good.
Could imagine, but hey, please, don’t go there.
It’s like taking liquid luck in harry potter but less MDMA/exstacy like
Ohhh good point thank you I didn’t realize that. There isn’t much context for me on it. I appreciate helping. Thank you.
Everything can be funny. Also drug abuse ≠ addiction
Come on down to the sugar plantation, we’d like to have a word with you out back… by the tool shed.
Guess you need some Xanax as well
Lol
