Yeah - while Temple was my first exposure, but Ice Station is the best place to start, and up there with his best work. Later stuff goes from silly fun to just… lost.

That’s enough to make me want to read the book. How is this narrative tied together and are the fantasy elements explained?
There are basically no “fantasy” elements, the book keeps you on edge with every page, its the most tense book i have ever read, i fr could NOT LAY IT DOWN until it was thru. Stuff why u should read the book:
- Liquid nitrogen hand granades
- magnetic pneumatic shootable grappeling hook
- French special forces beeing assholes
- more Deus ex machina moments than i ever saw before in a singular book
So it’s a beach romance for nerds. I’m interested.

Ice Station is sitting on my bookshelf and I think you’re severely underestimating nerds who enjoy over the top action.
It is on Audible, and I’ve got too many credits anyway… But it’s also over 15 hours
