It’s worth a revisit just to hear all the jokes that went over your head.
My favorite is (IIRC) Charlotte on the phone with Jonathan, she offhandidly tells Angelica “I love you.” and you hear Jonathan say “What?!” on the other line.
“Oh Jonathan, I was talking to Angelica, I don’t tell my employees I love them (walking out of scene) atleast not after Anita Hill…”
I don’t 100% remember if it was Anita Hill, but she namedroped a sexual harassment case. On Rugrats.
(What happened to Hill wasn’t funny, but the set-up and shock of the joke was well done)
Rugrats is a really strong depiction of realistic family dynamics. Lots of interesting stuff in the background. Also one of the best representations of a modern American Jewish family on television, I grew up in a mixed-faith situation as well and the Pickles felt incredibly relatable.
I grew up in a rural southern baptist community with zero Jewish kids, Rugrats was literally my first introduction to Judaism that wasn’t through an evangelical Christian lens. So I’m glad that it wasn’t a terrible representation!
This is the woke DEI agenda fascists want you to be afraid of (though I think they called it “political correctness” in those days)
You’re trying a bit too hard here, buddy.
Nah, it’s actually very easy to see, thanks for your concern tho
