With The Fantastic Four: First Steps out later this year, it’ll be four takes on Marvel’s first family in four decades.

IIRC each of them, except Silver Surfer, was done to maintain the rights. If they had failed to make a movie, the rights reverted back to Marvel.

Lots of mental gymnastics to keep the Corman thing semi-consistent there and a truly shameful attempt to gloss over Rise of the Silver Surfer to keep this shower thought of an article kinda making sense.

One day silver surfer should get his own live action movie. He’s got a solid story.

Yeaaah. Nobody making comic book movies has been willing to get as weird as the premise requires.

Maybe they could do the Slott/Allred run, which is basically just Marvel Doctor Who and seems a good deal more approachable than the very Kirby-esque baseline for the character. Still great, though, so I wouldn’t complain.

Incidentally, “just Marvel Doctor Who” would also be my take for the Fantastic Four, which is also very hard to get right otherwise.
