  • I initially thought OP meant to google too, but that didn’t track for me. Ultimately bullshitting makes sense in this context (thanks urban dictionary), since they compare someone who gibbities to someone who searches.

Either way it’s ridiculous slang to me, but I’m clearly the wrong generation for it, so I’m glad to know I wasn’t the only one confused.

  • I feel so damn old having to look up “gibbity.” Ugh.

I totally agree though, LLMs are consistently wrong when I ask a work-related question. I work in a field that isn’t particularly niche and use software that millions of people use every day, and LLMs will straight up invent entire menus rather than telling me it doesn’t know how to do something. Huge waste of time, especially when asking a coworker gets an accurate answer right away.

  • These immigration raids and terror tactics are terrible on their own, but it’s especially absurd when Native Americans get caught up in it, and it just fully exposes how disingenuous and transparently racist the whole effort is. So I’m sorry that your peoples have to suffer even more because of this racist mindset.

    From a January article:

”If you can’t say, ‘we’ve been here for time immemorial,’ then you’re an immigrant. You’re not from here, so who are you to classify our Indigenous people? These lands have been a melting pot for many ethnicities,” Hatathlie [a Native Arizona state Senator] said.

I heard another more recent example of a car full of Native Americans being pulled over, aggressively questioned, and asked for their papers, but I can’t seem to find it. It’s utterly shameful how we treat people.

  • I agree with every part of this.

A while back I was standing in the butter section, waiting for a couple to move so I could grab my pricey-but-worth-it butter, and overheard them talking about how butter is a scam and it all tastes the same no matter what. I had to hold back a chuckle. They of course grabbed the cheapest option and went about their lives in complete ignorance of the glory of high quality butter.

I still wonder if I should have said something to encourage them to try a better butter, but they talked about it with such blind confidence that I didn’t feel right about it at the time.

  • Hehe I do similar things in the morning. For example this morning I weighed my coffee beans, ground them, set up my chemex, and then stood there for like a minute thinking “what did I forget, I know I’ve forgotten something important.” It was the water. I forgot to fill up the kettle and turn it on. Mornings suck.

  • Frankly, the thing that scares me the most is that you can hear the soldiers in the audience loudly booing at residents of LA on behalf of Trump, when prompted by Trump. That’s disgusting behavior, and should get them all reprimanded or discharged.

While I don’t necessarily have the default unchallenged respect/reverence for the military that most people do, at the very least I expect them to act professionally and respectfully in their own country (since we know that’s often way too much to ask when they’re sent abroad). Fuck any solider who openly acts on their political views, and fuck every soldier that doesn’t refuse an illegal order. You volunteered to do this, so you better do it right.

  • DNC chair Ken Martin said that the controversy surrounding Hogg “destroyed any chance I have to show the leadership that I need to.”

Uhh then I think he needs to look up the word “leadership” in a dictionary. Good leaders don’t usually blame their subordinates for their own deficiencies. Hogg isn’t doing anything that would prevent Martin from growing a backbone and actually leading the party.

Blaming Hogg for Martin’s shitty instincts is childish and transparently ineffective. I was always against Martin as chair, and he continues to make all the mistake we knew he would make.
