Summary

A staffer for Elon Musk’s DOGE violated Treasury policy by emailing a spreadsheet containing personal information to other Trump administration officials without encryption or approval.

Marko Elez, who previously resigned over links to eugenics and racist social media content before being rehired, was found to have broken protocol during a forensic analysis prompted by a lawsuit from 19 state attorneys general.

A forensic analysis confirmed he failed to encrypt the data or get approval.

The incident has reinforced concerns about “rushed and chaotic” onboarding processes as DOGE seeks greater data access amid ongoing legal challenges.

“violated Treasury policy”, “previously resigned”, “found to have broken protocol”, “a lawsuit from 19 state attorneys general”, etc. This just doesn’t mean anything anymore. There is no law.
