    Real gold? Wouldn’t that be incredibly heavy, and also useless in combat?

      Gilded, so it’s a very thin layer of gold. That being said, probably more a show piece than something one wishes to risk in combat. At the least, probably not something worn by anyone fighting on the front lines instead of commanding behind a safe wall of human shields.
