That’s probably a good explanation. Pretty much everyone of these podcasting guru type people start of centrist or leftcenter then once they start to mix with the big leagues and make lots of money, all of the sudden they become right wing figures.
Joe Rogan, Lex Friedman, Andrew Huberman, Bret Weinstein
Man, I miss the r/decodingthegurus reddit sub where we could make fun of and expose these dipshits.
I’ve already created around 6 communities and mod an extra two across this account and my alts so I kind of have my hands full here
Also if I had the energy to make and run a community I think one I’d love on lemmy is probably c/anticonsumption or c/guerrillagardening so I’d probably prioritise one of those.
And there’s a risk of a community like that blowing up overnight when you’ve already got a bunch of mod duties and you’re the only mod in the new community.
Hopefully you can find a couple people to fill in the mod team.
If my experience on lemmy is worth anything, pretty much any community where the majority of posts are in picture formats, and where the content is accessible/understable to most, usually grows pretty quick.

Sigh, Lex Friedman used to be an interesting listen for financial stuff, and now he’s just another MAGA loser spouting bullshit economics
It pisses me off that these people get some of the most interesting people on earth to join their podcast and then all turn out to be MAGA arseholes.
I have to wonder who pays them and how much.
What’s stopping you from creating a community like that here?

As I have discovered.
Accepting applications, by the way.
Congrats on that one.
Overnight success 😁
Thanks. Let’s hope it doesn’t keep me as busy as it has. The fact that I’ve had to add a ‘no racism’ rule already…
