That’s all right, but don’t discount the possibility of extinction. There are forces beyond their control that they are unleashing (disease, climate, nuclear war) and they really could kill most of humans on Earth. I suppose a few unfortunate souls will be able to survive in the thawed Antarctica archipelago, but they could accidentally kill literally everyone else.
