The election, the CEO murder, etc.
And when I tried to say something about it, I get downvoted, and get replies that I am a bootlicker or something etc.
Oh yeah, also, Lemmy discussion is very one-sided and lacks nuance.
I have more things to say, but I prefer sleeping. That’s all
Every social media site is just US politics, like that’s all there is. Left wing sites are only used by people who reduce themselves to being transgender or 🧩, and right wing sites are only used by people who reduce themselves to being transphobic and eugenicist. Do you want your Donald Trump celebrity gossip with more slurs or less?
(The only website where you can have genuine fun is Neocities.)
I live in the US and I’m tired as well. Block the communities that keep posting that stuff and hopefully things will be better.
I’m probably going to post a list of “20 active communities that are not politics, news or tech” on [email protected] later today, your feeling is quite popular
OOT why does this post suddenly gets attention after a month

US Defaultism is a thing on the internet. I’ve seen it plenty here to the point of thinking of starting a USDefaultism community just to make fun of it all.
If it actually bothers you to the point of where you’re tired of seeing it, I’d recommend blocking (or filtering, depending on your Lemmy client) some US-centric communities or maybe even instances to bring some more balance in your feed.
Use block community. I do it all the time now even for things I like.
For example I like an occasional cat photo but my lemmy.world page was nothing but cat photos for a week.
Same feeling here.
I’ve been trying to channel people to [email protected]
[email protected] banning questions about US politics is already helping
Good idea. We should compartmentalise the 4%ers
