In light of Mozilla’s recent policy changes, we no longer feel assured that Firefox aligns with our commitment to protect your privacy. This prompted us to revisit the choice of default web browser in Zorin OS 17.3.

Yeah that’s such a weird choice, why not like LibreWolf or at least a less weird chromium fork than brave

They probably know they have to have something with a track record. I use librewolf, but if they stop maintaining it tomorrow I’ll just replace it. I have elderly relatives using Zorin and they would not know how to replace it

How does this affect people who upgrade? They just have Firefox plus a second browser?

I’m confused as to how people can feel safer that their interests are more respected using proprietary software. Did I miss something on why brave would be a good idea?

And injected URLs in affiliate codes to pocket the revenue. And caught leaking DNS queries in their TOR implementation. And gave up on advanced fingerprinting. And got caught installing a paid VPN service without their users’ consent. And endorsed privacytests.org without disclosing that the project is run by a Brave Senior Architect.

So yeah, a totally trustable company offering a browser whose engine is phasing out ad blockers with Manifest v3. Completely justifiable over any browsers using Gecko.

Crap, you’re right! I might have assumed otherwise due to the crypto stuff and other controversies. My bad.

    Okay 🤷‍♂️

Brave is good browser. It’s one of the better Chromium ones.

Also it’s not like you can’t download and use Firefox on Zorin OS.
