George – “So is this about lessening our relationship with the United States economically?”

Carney – “It’s about enhancing our relationship with others.”

    Good answer. Lol

I am so happy that Prime Minister Carney is Prime Minister right now. I cannot think of many better people to be leading Canada at this moment in time.

I remember watching his interviews and press conferences throughout the years hoping he would make a run at politics one day, and I really hope he isn’t held back from achieving his very big goals for Canada.

Yep. Some progressives see a banker who’s long been close to people in wealthy circles…

I see someone capable of using large amounts of money for good (a rare breed), and would strive to choose maximum benefit to society over maximum profit. These choices will hardly ever be clear, but for now, from his record, he has my trust and trust of Canadians writ large to do the best he can.

He’s also very clearly not just a neoliberal central banker - the housing plan calls for a new government agency that actually produces homes which is like, radically not neoliberal “let the market work” type solutioning.

PP or the next conservative to become PM in the future: That looks like a cash cow, lets sell it to our private buddies for pennies on the dollar!

The irony is progressives always say “look at the evidence” only to ignore the mans numerous accomplishments in the public and private sectors demonstrating his word can be trusted. They sound like the Conservatives attacks on Singh about his watch at this point.

He is most certainly capable, highly qualified, and even if he makes a mistake at least we know he will own it. His back ground as a central banker has made him almost too honest to be a “real politician” and it is refreshing.

I just watched that, and no, he didn’t say we need to become more dependent on the US. He said that there is opportunity for us in the US. That in no way means that he thinks we should be dependent on them.

No, saying the usa need our exports do not contradict him saying that we need to diversify our partners. In the 13 old video he didn’t say that we should stop exporting to the usa
