I think this is a bit beyond just “getting out of hand”. US is now few steps away from outright having a Ministry of Truth and a lot of media are actually going along with it voluntarily.

If you told me this would happen even a month ago, I would have probably laughed at you.

Been that way for a while, and will only likely get worse.
