Anyone have a dashcam they really like?
- I don’t care about screens
- I’d like something I could mount to my dash
- I’d like something that can record audio
I was trapped in my car recently and berated by a neighbor, so I mostly want something I can use to record that sort of behavior in the future. Otherwise, it’s just he said/she said.

Edit: I ended up with a VIOFO VS1 Mini. I installed it last night and so far so good. The only annoyance was that my EZ-Pass(toll road transponder) was already mounted right where I wanted my camera, so that had to move. Also, I still need to pretty up my wiring. I’m feeling a bit more confident driving in the neighborhood. And I checked, can download video with the app no problem.
I’ve been rocking an Amazon bluskysea Chinese thing for 6 years, has covered me in two accidents where the other driver ran into me. I’ve got hours of footage of dumbass drivers I should go through one day
Hmmm 6 years? Might wanna replace it… ya know, ye dont want it to fail in case you have an accident now. I don’t drive (yet), but I always have like extra paranoia, and want like two dash cams of different brands with different brand microsd cards (Sandisk and Samsung sd cards probably), just so I know there is gonna be at least one that has the footage if ever need it, and swap it out in staggered way, like if I expext it to last 5 years, I will replace one in 2.5, then the other in another 2.5 years (also getting new micro sd cards). Like I just hate the idea of a random idiot running from the sidewalk and jaywalk, then the one dash cam fails, then I end up in jail for vehicular manslaughter, maybe that’s why I still haven’t gotten a drivers license yet… 🤷♂️
(okay I know I’m probably over-paranoia lol 😅, but reading that you have a 6 year old dashcam is making me nervous)
It’s on my list. I definitely check videos once a month or so to confirm, but I’m really surprised a $50 camera survived this long.
