Not to make light of a horrible situation, but I used to confront fundamentalist Christians with this logic. The Bible might be opposed to gay lifestyle but it says nothing about being trans so I used to find it weird they got lumped together, even amongst those who earnestly thought they were being “bible based”. If there are strictly two genders then why can’t bodies be mismatched the way everything else in a fallen world is mismatched? When that happens with eyes, ears, organs, limbs we fix it. Why draw the line when someone feels they have the wrong sexual organs? Some were persuaded by that logic to view trans in a more positive light.

My mother is a fundamentalist Christian (unfortunately), and is strangely trans-positive (or at least trans-neutral) because a literal reading of the Bible doesn’t address trans issues.

And the literal reading of the Bible doesn’t say anything about being gay either. Just some poorly translated works written hundred of years after the “event”. I’d be curious if your mom would change her tune if a new edition of the Bible was written, that had explicitly anti trans wording, if she would change her stance.
