Not a meme, but I thought it was sweet.

When I was young - between ages five and seven; I don’t remember the exact timeframe - I went on a school field trip to a nearby planetarium. It was the first time I’d ever been to one and I have a few formative memories from the experience, but they’re all lacking in detail.

One of those memories is of Leonard Nimoy being present. At the time, I don’t think I’d even heard of Star Trek and I certainly hadn’t seen it, so I didn’t know who that was. Some of the chaperones and a few of the other kids seemed impressed, though.

Now that I’m an adult, am a casual fan of Star Trek, and know of Leonard Nimoy, I’m pretty sure the person in question was just a member of planetarium staff wearing Spock ears and that either the staff or one of the chaperones joked about who it was to a gullible (especially me) crowd. I suspect him being there would have been a much bigger deal.

And that’s how I met Leonard Nimoy.
