  • Tariffs are taxes, but they’re taxes for companies not individuals, and they’re only applied to importing, so they won’t affect me.

Typical Magoo (literally my dad in 2016): “you can’t tax business owners, they’re going to just make everything more expensive for us! They pass on the burden to us!”

Also Magoo: “Yay tarrifs! They are a tax on business but that won’t get passed on to me!”

The Magoo motto: Whatever words I need to use to suit my purpose I will use, to hell with reality.

  • Generally yeah, but even the article pointed out that it was bipartisan and the scumbags caucus was the one that put it on the shelf for now. There was a lot of language about “unfair distributions” so if anything they’ll make slight clarifications to that. Social security is kind of a “third rail” of politics, you touch it you die.

Old people and billionaires are the two classes of people you don’t mess with in politics, one votes for you the other owns you, but then again now that gen z seems to be brainwashed by Reich wing disinformation podcasts and tictoks maybe Republicans will ditch their fear of old people revolting against them.

  • Buckle up! It’s going to be article after article after article of “Trump violated XYZ law!”

Hope you’re happy Merrick Garland, you proved that Trump is above the law. At least history will say you weren’t partisan, because your image is the only thing that matters in life right? Not that Fox or any right wing propagandist will agree. You’re still a Democrat appointed witch hunter to them.

  • Things are really going to go in their favor now that Trump is in office! It’s not like the CEO of BlackRock donated $100 million to Donald Trump’s campaign, putting him in the top 10 of donors!

…I fucking hate this timeline. Don’t vote for the woman who would attempt to give a first time homebuyers credit, no, vote for the billionaire with the billionaire cabinet backed by billionaires that are buying all the houses!

  • I think that takes more thought than even those who vote with us do. I think we seriously overestimate the political intelligence of the people in this country. Not to say 0% were those people, but if we’re talking millions I think we’re talking about typical ignorance.

I think the vast majority vote D for social issues, but once their pocketbook gets hurt it’s time to sit it out or worse “punish” the party in power by voting for the opposition. :(

  • It wasn’t even exactly that. It was MILLIONS of people who voted Democrat previously just sitting this one out. I don’t think there are 15 Million “Gaza or bust” voters so this was just pure ignorance…

“Trump is horrible, but the Democrats made inflation. I’m not voting for either.” (Conveniently forgetting COVID and the necessary cash injection that helped keep people paying bills on time and kept businesses afloat to be there to rehire when lockdowns ended.) Ignorance…

Not that it was perfectly executed by any stretch of the imagination, but the alternative was everyone “non-essential” goes broke and businesses everywhere collapse. There was no world where we just didn’t do lockdowns, we don’t have the luxury of hindsight when something new happens obviously. We probably didn’t need the lockdowns because COVID spread regardless :(
