If they’re like some of my family, they see the lived-in familiarity of their youth as “quirky” in contrast to the unfamiliarity of today’s youth which is “bizarre”. They eased into the bizareness of being a child over time, whereas they are getting dropped in the deep end when they encounter children now.
It’s all silly. Everyone is quirky and weird on some level. Some are just more open and honest about it than others and successive generations have been pushing more to be themselves.
It’s the classic conservative condition: I didn’t see it was a problem until it happened to me. So let’s start making it happen to them.

This is true. It can be strived for, though, and there are strategies to overcome bias, increase impartiality, and identify bias in others. If the United States supreme court (and really its legal system too) had any integrity, it would champion doing so.

Seriously. This person filed 20,716 complaints about flight path noise pollution in a year. Just one person. I need to see a zero added behind that 12,000 figure, then I’ll know at least six people are truly dedicated.

I’m so sorry. I’ve been in a similar situation and I know how it just makes you feel gutted. I’m glad you’re free of someone like that, though.
That’s what we did. We were told the negative criteria were frequent driving, night driving, and all the driving BS you’d expect - hard stops, fast corners, etc. The company used a phone app, so we only installed it on my phone, had it disabled most of the time, and enabled it once or twice a week for a painfully slow drive to the grocery store just around the corner.
We had an amazing score which resulted in… No discount! We actually paid more. We got some bullshit low percentage off which was simultaneously offset by a mid-year rate increase. They claimed they had to reevaluate our rates any time they added a discount. Total bullshit.
