  • What are you feeling that you don’t want to struggle with anymore? Is it guilt? Is it feeling in the way? Is it an unnamable negative? If it’s the last one then you can probably do some work surrounding labelling your emotions, so that you can then apply logic to them- do they fit the current situation? Or no?

Finding a good therapist is like dating. You might not jive with everyone, and that’s ok! It sounds like you would do well with one who either a) is cool with you coming to the session with a goal or who b) helps you set a goal for each session at the beginning. It sounds like your previous therapists weren’t meeting your goals, but it doesn’t mean it isn’t worthwhile.

I’m sorry that you feel like you’re getting in trouble often. I hope this feeling passes soon.

  • Typically if you are complimenting someone on a choice that they made, as opposed to something they don’t have control over (or at least not easy control) you’re good.

The example in the comic is good, because it’s complimenting a choice. Complimenting someone’s body features can land you in the ‘creepy’ camp, depending on the context.

  • I wasn’t trying to conflate the two things. I was providing a source on where the “farms” came from, and clarified that they were meant to help “drug addicts” (not minimizing your experience- just reinforcing that the wording is already not great from a lens of treating maladaptive substance use, in addition to being completely inappropriate for people who take prescribed medications.)

I neither agreed not disagreed, though I do find it problematic to be enrolling people who are neurodivergent into any kind of list for any reason without their expressed consent and ability to withdraw that consent at any times. If the reason is purely investigation/research as you say, then I believe that it should be under the same rigor and ethics considerations as any other research.
