Because it’s still his propaganda and spy machine. He serves you the content he wants you to see and he collects your data. He wants to influence other elections, his thirst for power and wealth is unlimited.
Let’s work together and make it happen for real. I’ve worked on some ideas on what we can do to stop Musk’s radical agenda: https://lemm.ee/post/49991492
Basically get people off of Twitter to cut off the propaganda machine and then boycott his products, get advertisers to stop advertising on Twitter and encourage the workers in his companies to strike/quit.
Better do something than do nothing.
When we unite we are stronger than him. Pressure works. That’s why ABC should not have settled.
Good! Let’s work to keep the momentum going and encourage everyone you know to boycott Twitter/X. If you still use Twitter/X make a post saying you can find me on Lemmy/Bluesky/Mastodon or whatever website/app you choose to replace it.
Don’t let Elon Musk control you and your country, stop Twitter/X now!
Good! Let’s accelerate this trend. If you have friends or family still using X tell them to delete their account.
It also gained a biased algorithm: https://www.theverge.com/2024/11/17/24298669/musk-trump-endorsement-x-boosting-republican-posts-july-algorithm-change
People in the EU: please contact people in your government to ban X in the EU: https://ban-x-in.eu/
it’s important to redirect negative thoughts and feelings, but you have to do this without jumping to condescending or infantilising language.
So much this! I used to be a Trump supporter myself and I’ve made some people angry because of my previous political views. I got yelled at for what I said. Even though in hindsight their reaction was somewhat justified all that did was reinforce my views and dig a deeper hole.
I get what you mean there. I hope they have improved their security since then.
I researched this exact question. There is a way called deep canvasing https://www.vice.com/en/article/how-to-change-a-voters-mind-is-deep-canvassing/
It’s scientifically proven. Try having a one on one conversation with someone. Listen to what they say and respond with empathy. Then gradually and calmly introduce your message that is related to what they said. For example if the person you are talking to said they are worried about grocery prices and specifically egg prices you could mention that bird flu was the root cause of the price increase and that Trump’s tariffs will raise prices on groceries. Building trust helps your message get across. I’ve had personal conversations with Trump supporters who trust me and you’d be surprised how much success you can have.
Wikipedia explains who they are very well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GiveSendGo
GiveSendGo is a Christian crowdfunding website.[5] GiveSendGo has attracted controversy for allowing far-right extremists to fundraise, including neo-Nazis, white supremacists and hate groups.[15]
They have also had multiple security breaches.
It’s so weird that conservative talk radio for many years had conspiracies about how the government will violate everyone’s rights and now it’s happening and they are blind to it or accepting it because they think the person doing it is on their side. Remember the FEMA camps conspiracy theory? Where are those people now?
Certainly an interesting statistic but one thing to keep in mind is that Elon Musk has control over the algorithm and he uses it to boost right wing causes. So even if the Twitter has an equal number of users from both sides one side is getting an unfair advantage. I’m still shocked by the number of gay, black, latino and women votes Trump got this election. I wish they would realize that racism, sexism and homophobia are what drives Trump’s most loyal and core supporters.
Group think and tribalism is very powerful. I used to be a Trump supporter and I remember thinking about how women were more likely to vote for progressive candidates with the conclusion that perhaps they shouldn’t be doing that. I now very deeply regret being part of that and I’m so grateful I broke free of all that nonsense. Monkey see, monkey do is very true. That’s why it’s important that our leaders demonstrate good behavior and set a good example for everyone.
The concerns are true but if people leave Twitter for Bluesky it’s still an improvement because Elon uses the algorithm to boost far-right content and he has your data.
I don’t know what Musk thinks of porn but I do know that one part of project 2025 is a ban on porn. Maybe Musk will get on that. I’d recommend trying to contact your favorite content creators and friends on Twitter and ask them to move to Bluesky.
