Oh, yes, then I would be very angry.
That’s actually a really good point. Interesting games tend to make me read books. I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t at least a social democrat, but reading definitely pushed me over the line to the actual left.
I’m not sure about the angry part (I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be angry about in this context), but I’m a lifelong gamer, and I’m here. The circles I inhabit tend to be fairly progressive, usually pretty liberal, but occasionally actually leftist. I don’t usually feel unsafe hoisting the red flag in my groups, so perhaps I am part of a pipeline to the left.
I don’t do twitch or youtubers, so I haven’t really noticed much of a pipeline to the right. But I do occasionally see nonsense about random games being “woke” for insane reasons, so I am vaguely aware of their existence. It’s just not a crowd I associate with.
I’m not Ukranian, but this deal sounds pretty frickin nice. I would like my country to accept these terms without a war with Russia.
It was a dark day. And it’s only gotten worse.
It is fictional, but based on real people and events. I would compare it something like Peaky Blinders, which I thought was a pretty decent representation of Victorian England and the gangs of the time. I thought Minning Town was a pretty good representation of what the CPC is all about, and an example of what a currently existing communist country can be like.
Glad to help! It’s honestly a little heartbreaking when watching it, knowing what happens just a few years later, but it’s still a great watch.
Another one I might suggest is “Minning Town”. It’s a Chinese TV Drama about their poverty alleviation efforts for the Hui people in Ningxia. It’s a legitimately great show, and covers a lot of aspects of communist society. It focuses on internal workings and ideals of the communist party, and a slice of life for the Hui minority. It’s also available on YouTube, although the subtitles can be a little sketchy.
I know you said you aren’t interested in historical content, but I would like to recommend “The Human Face of Russia”, which was a documentary produced by the BBC in 1984. They travel throughout the Soviet Union and speak to people about their daily lives in the context of a communist society. It’s easily found on YouTube.
Indigenous peoples are formally involved in the governance of unceded territories across Canada, including in densely populated areas.
Oh Canada. Your home and not native land. I do find it amazing that they implicitly admitted that we are not in control of our own land though, and actually came out and said that it would be very bad if we did.
I did not. The US purposefully starved my people. I don’t see that as a great contribution to global aid.

EDIT: Yeah, you’re right. It is obvious.
I had to look up your comment history, as I take the echo chamber accusation seriously. Wow. I’m amazed you weren’t banned. You waited a whole 12 minutes after asking for sources before posting this. If you’d waited 46 minutes, you would have seen the wikipedia text copy/pasted for you.
I like to watch the TV series “Mayday: Air Crash Investigations”. The US dubs their version though, and I got curious one day. I watched the original and the US dub side by side of S3E06 “Mistaken Identity”, which was about the time that a US Aegis Cruiser shot down an Iranian passenger jet in the Persian Gulf. As I suspected, the US version was censored.
It was very interesting which bits were censored. It was fairly obvious that they would want to cut any parts that humanised the Iranians. To my surprise, they didn’t cut the bits where the crew was praised for their actions. But the most interesting bit for me was that they cut a couple of interviews with the crew of the cruiser, where they talked about how terrified they were of the plane.
They absolutely do not want you to know that their great invincible navy spent half their time peeing in their pants when an airliner flew overhead.
