Not judging, just observing. If she wants me to stop saying that all she has to do is stop thrusting her Christianity on the rest of us.

No more moon shots, contract out everything, slash pensions, fight a war against your union, move corporate away from production, buy your own stock.
afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•‘Will I ever retire?’: millennials wonder what’s on the other side of middle age1·1 year agoSo tired of hearing that shitstain’s name. I admit there is some wisdom to the up or out approach. You know for very very high level workers. Like C-suite or a rank below. Doing it across the company just promises misery and failure.

I get to see the worst shitty behaviors they elderly did when I was a kid being imitated unironically by the new crop of elderly. No self-awareness and no ability to learn. It’s depressing, like watching the same personal mistakes being repeated forever.
Right @[email protected] ? You remember being a kid and that old dude you knew screaming about skateboarding, right?
afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•‘Will I ever retire?’: millennials wonder what’s on the other side of middle age1·1 year agotry to keep an eye on neat, simple engineering projects from poor countries because we may need to rely on similar options soon enough ourselves.
I am just sitting here as a infrastructure guy trying not to have a mental break of crying and laughing. It’s so fucking bad and getting so much worse. You know what was today’s item? I am working on one small system for a replacement wastewater treatment plant for a town of about 3,000 people that the pieces of shit general contractor has dragged out for 8 fucking years. 8 years for a project that should have taken 6 months. They haven’t done any work. Longer it goes on the more they get to bill. Oh and my favorite part? The general contractor is one of the bigger ones, they have a Wikipedia page.
Cost disease is going to break us. Entire country is going to be spending a trillion a year with the water supply of Flint.
Now if you excuse me I am going to drink now. Cause fuck it I can’t save anyone.
afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.worldto News@lemmy.world•‘Will I ever retire?’: millennials wonder what’s on the other side of middle age1·1 year agoMy wife has a job with an awesome pension and as a result there is basically no situation she will ever leave. I pointed out to her that the golden handcuffs are still golden.
One day some MBAs are going to learn that if you don’t want constant turn over you give workers a pension so great they would crawl over their mother’s corpse to get it.
What am I saying? MBAs learning? Hahaha I love being silly.
afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Tobacco-like warning label for social media sought by US surgeon general who asks Congress to actEnglish0·1 year agoAnd now you are backtracking. You didn’t say that in your previous comment what you did argue for was finding ways to hurt social media companies. Not able to support your revenge viewpoint you make it more diplomatic.
You don’t like Meta? Ok, I don’t care or blame you. No one has to like anything. But you can stop pretending that you suddenly care about people hurt by that company when you post a screed about your revenge fantasies.
As I said, it isn’t about making things better it is about hurting something you don’t personally like.
afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Tobacco-like warning label for social media sought by US surgeon general who asks Congress to actEnglish0·1 year agoAnd right here is why I will never be on board with this idea. You don’t want to make people better at using the tech or companies to do a better job with it, you want your revenge on them. It isn’t about being greater it is about constraining success.

Guess humans haven’t changed much. On an unrelated note a friend of mine yesterday decided to tell me about the vast conspiracy of trans people to hurt girls and I am reconsidering our relationship.

I was going to bring up the killing of cats right before the Black Plague of the 14th century but some searching online showed me that most historians think it was a factor but not the major factor.
So yeah I got nothing you might be right.
The thing about five year olds is that they don’t communicate like adults. Also adults suck as well. Go work in retail or a restaurant for a week and tell me about how understanding adults are.
I have a client now who wants a replacement part that my employer hasn’t made since 2002, explained that and he demanded that I walk him through the repair process. Guy this thing was out of warranty for 21 years.
Don’t think I made any claims about myself

Those are two facts that have nothing to do with each other. Besides the oppressed always punch down. There is a reason why that 12 year old was mean to you when you were 7 and didn’t go to the nearest biker bar and start talking smack. If this concept is still confusing go on Blue Sky or Twitter and attract attention to yourself. Watch how fast the oppressed smell weakness on you.
afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Gay Republican candidate melts down when he figured out that his party is homophobicEnglish1·1 year agoMeh sometimes for local government there aren’t a lot of good options. You can’t really primary an incumbent and going independent just makes it that much harder. However, I assume you weren’t talking about city comptroller you were talking a real position like Congress or Governor
afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Gay Republican candidate melts down when he figured out that his party is homophobicEnglish01·1 year agoAsk yourself the same question. Not trying to pick on you but think of all the people on your side that are only on your side because of they agree with you on like 25% of the issues or because or some quality.
Just an example of something people are relatively calm about: I can be pro-union for lumberjacks but not want the Pacific Northwest to become a dead parking lot and the spotted owl to be extinct. I agree with them on one issue and not others.
afraid_of_zombies@lemmy.worldto Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Gay Republican candidate melts down when he figured out that his party is homophobicEnglish1·1 year agoI wonder how much it is the parties changed and how much it is we changed as a people. When I was a kid it was a race to the middle, the majority of the population could vote either way. Now the middle is basically gone and power is from who can get their base motivated.
Fine. I would start reading with the PERMA+ model
Why tell me? Tell all those shrinks and psychology professors who have been doing endless studies on this for a century.
Turns out Aristotle was right all along. Took us like 25 centuries to relearn it.
The virus was studied by multiple different healthcare agencies across multiple different continents.
This is not comparable to the performance yesterday.
