If the openly available China stuff is so great, make something great yourself if you want to compete with them. To instead ban it is to essentially hold americans down and reduce the quality of what they can do. So nah. Trash Trump decision. No one wants Altman as US AI posterboy. Don’t force people from openly available high quality stuff on to the Altman bandwagon.

A real company should be able to mention their competitors without fear because they are proud of what they made and genuinely think it’s the best and, if it isn’t, they are actively improving it to the point they feel it is.

This decision basically shows US AI insecurity, there will be a shift, and that Altman can’t compete with better people.

interestingly im in the rural lands of the poorest county in my state and women here are often brawlers, physically strong, and I have heard about the same amount of men and women say they are in or worked in construction. So class (including preference for physical jobs from lack of decent education) and norms (such as being tough being cool also for women here) may also play a role.

idk. To me, the first paragraph sounds like they are interacting with people independent of gender (gender neutrality) while the second sounds like treating people differently based on gender so as to achieve gender balance and gender equality. It can be argued that the second is more noble, results in balanced genders, etc. But in the first, people are interacted with independent of their gender and, in the second, they are differentiated based on gender. It’s this subtle difference I am realizing does not align with party lines as I thought they were (and this is a perfect example of it).

Tho also I specifically AM looking outside LeftRight, hence broadly asking of ideologies in general. I mention Left and Right because they are the ones I just experienced and know of. the general population of lemmy is describable as ‘generally left’; hence the term Left since that is the population I am observing and had previously erroneously attributed gender neutrality to. My expectation was someone would mention communism or socialism or rastafarianism or something else. I appreciate your response minus the hostility.

It is also interesting to me how many people consider it a troll question. It is most acceptable to kill only men and no one beside me sees anything sexist about that? How is discussing that troll? I have trolled trillions of times, but this one is an actual facet of our world to discuss. I would actually say those who cannot view this as anything but a troll question would also 100% kill the men and leave the women unquestioningly as ‘the one true way’. Doesn’t mean me highlighting your sexism makes my question troll. We are in a world now where both sexism is bad and women are not inferior. Duh the ideal is to kill no one. This question isn’t about that. Reminds me of modlogs where mods ban ppl with different ideologies than their own with the reason being ‘trolling’. Consider my question trolling and I consider everything you ever do trolling. :)
