Could be an idea to make it easier to set a grub password during distro installation, that I can agree on.
Honestly I simply found the statement to give very little to discuss.
Regarding editing the Kernel command line; that would require that you already have access to your Debian install and have the rights to edit the Kernel command line.
Regarding your link in general I find myself at odds with development practices that removes my own agency. I can see how for many end-users it’s good, just like how most car owners shouldn’t try to fix their car troubles themselves, but I would start looking for another OS if it starts pulling auto-updating á la Windows.
Just something to consider as you’re thinking about using a virtual machine for windows; you have enough RAM to comfortably run a linux host with Windows 11 + Debian Stable VMs for work + work db server.
I’m allergic to mixing private stuff with work stuff and there’s a great thing to be able to shut work down at the end of the day. (Freeing up all your hardware for your private fun at the same time)
Pro of running an immutable distro is that it is much harder to break during daily use. The con is that you’re pretty much setup to only use flatpaks and some things like abraunegg’s onedrive aren’t available as a flatpak.
Have you considered making the Win10 Win11 VM a complete work jail? If you do all things work in there then you get a nice separation of private and work and won’t have to worry about work apps linux compatibility.
edit: Windows 10 support ends on October 14, 2025

I find that the last ones, (5) a majority of people are concerned about climate change and support climate action (‘Others care’); and (6) actions can be taken to limit the harm (‘There’s hope’)., are the ones I’m failing some days.
There’s just too much news that appear to tell the opposite of (5) and that leads to not believing in (6).
You’ve chosen an immutable distro based on rpm-ostree. If you want to install a program/application/app then flatpak is the way.
Heroic Launcher works great for installing GOG/Epic games but if you want to install a game or other program from an offline installer then I still fall back to Lutris.
For more in-depth read up on rpm-ostree and flatpak
When I visited danish relatives they often made flæskesteg (a kind of roast pork, originally a christmas dish) and you can also get flæskesteg burgers and so on. That’s what I think of when someone says danish pork.
Install and read up on tlp, lower screen brightness and bring powerbanks would be my tips if you wanna use a laptop in the forest.
Would an alternative be to simply edit the pdfs?
The german software FlexiPDF still allows you to buy a yearly version for a one off sum and allow you to use a free trial with watermark to check whether it works well enough for you before you buy.

I’d take it farther, don’t put meat in an open compost.
Ah, I just use the default lemmy webui, if you’ve fallen for an alternative then I understand moving is hard. :)
I don’t feel apart because I use another instance though, just that I strengthen the resilience of lemmy by using a smaller instance.
My lemmy.world account is a few days you ger than yours.

An option for you is to move to an instance that isn’t defederated with beehaw, f.e. sopuli.xyz.
Because I’m used to noscript, I’ve tried using uBlock in stricter than default settings but found it hard to get into their flag system.
I do not trust 1st party by default in noscript and am pleasantly surprised anytime a site works without js.
I’m probably slow enough to not notice, or maybe the site is already cached when I’m done with noscript.
Most comms are focused on a subject, I’m not aware of any /c/lonely/.
I know that beehaw has a comm for random chat, but you can’t reach [email protected] from lemmy.world.
lemmy.one also has one it seems
[email protected]
Many comms moved to piefed, are they counted in that graph?
