  • That didn’t stop the circle-jerking, romanticism, and ignorance of the sub’s participants, or the ridiculous and inordinate amount of positive and negative karma coming from subs about weevils, for example. Easy karma just for posting ‘aww lawd, here we go again’ in r/bedbugs. Post a pic of a steak in r/steaks with ‘cast iron’ and ‘reverse sear’ and get easy karma too. - Post the same steak or even a much better one with ‘tri-clad / air fryer’ and get nothing. -First-hand experience with a crappy AI generated steak and one I put in an air fryer for 25 minutes at 180F before finishing in a tri-clad. -Edge to edge medium looking better than 99% of theirs. -lol. (The karma system is shit)

If you want her hooked; make it better (not like). You’re taking away Adobe, Office, Games, Topaz and other proprietary software, and you want to make it ‘like’ windows to boot? Outside of conspiracy theories about privacy and stuff, and people expecting an OS to run smooth at minimum specs; there isn’t much reason to use Linux over Windows, besides dynamic tiling window managers. I’d think you were an idiot if I were her, and you gave me the popular response here.

  • Linux is Linux - Nah… there will be distros like Arch where you can just use the AUR (someone started a project to bring AUR like functionality to other distros), and there will be distros that go mostly or all in on other packaging methods. There’s also wrappers like topgrade for those of us that don’t want to bother with multiple commands to update all.
