This war isn’t supposed to “work”. It will be to distract from his domestic failures including the deliberate destruction of the economy.

I remember that exact scene from Insurrection and I remember thinking damn Picard is a lot more swole than I thought.
The value of the weapons used exceeds the value of the buildings destroyed by at least one order of magnitude.
It’s been a few years since I checked, but I do recall their page about irrational numbers being hilarious. Felt like it was written by a high school gym teacher who also taught grade 9 math , so he didn’t really need to understand irrational numbers but was super irritated that they exist.
Conflicts of interest are no longer a concept that matter. American voters don’t care.
The other reason being that Americans have apparently lost any understanding of what a truly bad economy actually feels like. The lesson is incoming.
Trump literally doesn’t have the ability to shut the fuck up so not sure this is a real option.
Not initially. Fox News was against Trump initially. The whole GOP establishment was against him. He took over by the GOP base consistently voting for him. There was an actual takeover that happened.
Even if they did Russia wouldn’t be able to resist constantly antagonizing them to the point that they seek NATO membership. Thats what “NATO expansionism” is.
There’s a reason real cabinet members do things the way they do - those governance structures were designed to allow them to wield executive power but maintain checks and balances - secretaries have to be senate confirmed, and there are actual ways in which they issue orders. Musk is operating outside of all of that, and wielding Trump’s personal power. Most Americans just don’t care.
I guarantee you he has signed no papers. His name won’t be in anything. In a court of law you’ll have trouble proving he actually ordered anything at all. He is welding all this power completely outside of literally any accountability and Trump , Congress, and Trump’s supporters are all fine with that.
Import tariffs cannot possibly replace income tax. It’s not even vaguely possible. A 25% import tariff on literally everything would mean that Americans would have to import (AFTER the reduction in demand for imported products caused by tariffs) 4 times the amount the US government takes in income taxes. The US government gets on the order of 4 Trillion dollars in income tax. So Americans would have to import 16T total DESPITE the tariffs to make this up.
There is simply no world in which this works.
Plus the goal of using tariffs to eliminate the income tax is directly counter to the goal of reducing trade deficits and bringing back manufacturing, since to keep the income tax eliminated you need US consumers to continue importing and paying the fucking tariffs.
So not only does the math not math, if the tariffs succeeded at one of their stated goals they would necessarily fail at the other.
The six billionaires who own most of the media will never allow that.
The only way this is true is if losing is more based than winning.
Theres an argument to be made that Pelosi is only agreeing because she knows that her agreement won’t do anything.
Even if this plan succeeds, it’s not like the countries you just tariffed are just going to allow American exports into their markets. It will shrink the whole economy AND cause inflation at the same time. Economics fear this state for a reason.
the US president reconfirming his commitment to a comprehensive tariff regime he argues will be “the greatest thing we’ve ever done as a country”.
I will never understand how Americans developed a taste for his constant hyperbolic bullshit.
Really? Tariffs? Rehashing pre-WW1 economics theories is the greatest thing America has ever done? Greater than abolishing slavery? Greater than the civil rights act? Greater than the moon landings? Greater than the invention of the transistor?
Trump is at a point where nobody bats an eye to this. Trying to hold him accountable for literally anything he says is futile, and half the country things that quality is a good thing and they enable it.
Please tell me how you’re a good person as you vainly paint Americans as the “victims” in this LOL
It’s still up significantly from 1 year ago.
Their quarterly report is going to be really interesting. Since Tesla now literally cannot be investigated by the SEC or any other federal agency, I think cooking the books to hide the sales crash is very much on the table.
