Exactly, the one thing the war showed is that the GDP metrics the west has been using to measure the size of an economy are completely worthless. Turns out that Russia alone has the industrial capacity to outproduce all of the west combined.

Right, it’s mostly just bad PR. I do expect Russia would do this in case of a direct conflict with NATO though. Western weaponry is very dependent on satellites, while Russian weapons tend to use laser guidance for targeting. So, losing satellites would be far worse outcome for NATO.

I’m sure more won’t hurt. I think AD and EW systems and might actually be more impactful. Russia has been very effective at jamming western guided munitions, and their AD may be able to take out even stealth jets. This would basically put an end to any air campaigns by Israel and the US in West Asia.

I think this will almost certainly go beyond Ukraine. The best case scenario is that Russia will transfer advanced systems like hypersonic weapons and s400s to Syria, Iran, and Yemen. The worst case scenario is that Russia may conduct a strike directly in a NATO country. Putin previously said that the options Russia was considering included this eventuality, and he doesn’t bluff as far as I know. If he’s making such a statement publicly now, it means Russia already has a response prepared.

I really hope he does this. It would force countries to choose between G7 and BRICS, and the latter is where pretty much all the manufacturing happens making it indispensable. This would play out exactly the same way as trying to shut Russia out of the global financial system did, but on a far bigger scale.

The mere fact that Trump is floating this idea is an indication of panic as well. If the US wasn’t worried then there would be no need to use coercive measure to keep people from fleeing dollar based system. These kinds of mob tactics that will further convince countries that they need to move off the dollar as quickly as possible.

Yeah, I find his analysis tends to be sound and easily digestible. Completely agree that it’s hilarious how he attributes China’s success to Christianity as opposed to material development driven by the political system. Kind of illustrates how people come up with crazy ideas when they don’t use material analysis of things.

Yeah, I think somebody linked to his weird take where he claims China’s development is somehow a result of embracing Christianity. So, he’s definitely deep into the whole religious thing. That said though, the analysis he has is generally sound and well sourced.

I expect NATO itself is living on borrowed time at this point. Now that the proxy war against Russia failed, the US will refocus on Asia. Without the US commitment, the whole scheme is going to quickly come apart.

Indeed, Ukrainian resistance has collapsed to the point where Russia now taking multiple towns basically intact on daily basis. If Ukraine wasn’t able to defend well dug in positions they’ve been preparing for years, then there’s no hope of them holding territory where fortifications haven’t even been prepared.

It’s basically the whole concept with the Soviet deep battle theory. You push all across the front until you find a weak spot and achieve a breakthrough, then you push through it and attack behind enemy lines. At that point the whole line starts collapsing.

NATO needs Turkey to have access to Black Sea, so not much they can do.
