Yup, very old wooden drawers. They don’t even have a runner, they’re effectively just a wooden box sliding on a wooden shelf, so loads of friction. Part of why I’d delayed was because I wanted to sand them down and use some proper wax… but never seem to have the time. The soap took 2 minutes and made a huge difference.
WD-40 is a rather poor lubricant. Maybe OP is also talking about wooden drawers or somewhere food is stored? In those cases I’d not use WD-40 either.
Oh, yeah, I’m thinking of drawers with metal tracks. Forgot about wood on wood drawers.
Thanks for all the tips, y’all.
I’m a fan of using 3-in-1 oil for most things. Should be good for metal tracks.
Not food safe though. Not sure what to use on kitchen drawers.
3-in-1
You’re not lubing silverware, or eating off the tracks, right?
Good point. But I don’t know how it’d off-gas or if it’d leak onto stuff.
