Though seriously, in Tropic Thunder, Kirk Lazarus is a satirical character whose method of acting goes to such lengths that it becomes offensive, hence why he’s in blackface.
Like it’s supposed to be offensive, that’s the entire point. It’s satirising the film industry’s portrayal of war and the actors in the industry. They even point this out in the film itself, lol, it’s a key part of it.
Using satire to back up your deflection unironically is certainly… something. Haven’t seen that before. But the original post has no satire, punchline, or even anything witty. It’s just plain racism.
If you say any group of people are prone to rape because of their brains, then that is racist.
Do you, for example, think Robert Downey Jr’s blackface in Tropic Thunder was racism or a criticism of racism?
Did he say ‘the African American brain is prone to sexual assault’?
That is one of the traditional meanings of blackface, yes.
It’s also clear that the intended meaning of the act is innately critical of that mentality.
If you disagree that it is acceptable that’s valid but ignoring that the act was at least an attempt at well intentioned criticism is just dishonest.
Of fucking course you’re here with a heaping helping of terrible opinions.
Thanks for sharing, but my doctor said I should avoid false-pretenses used to destroy honest discussion.
Feel free to block me, it’s not like you’ve ever said anything of value so neither of us will miss anything.
I can BLOCK people?!?!
Oh boy it’s like Christmas 🥳
