The funny thing with the us is that were it really fails is the in between. Help is only available if you basically lose everything. When my dad had alzeihmers there were some serious discussions about if my parents should get divorced so that our mom would not need to support them on their limited retirement funds. I have similar problems with my wife in that on my own I would be doing great but with the medical issues any disruption threatens to bring everything we have down like a house of cards. Its a crazy stressful way to live.
