Yeah, it’s not like any of those NK soldiers are ever coming home. Imagine what would happen if, say, the 2000 surviving soldiers of the 20k they sent got back, and tell everyone how in wartorn ukraine, things are WAY better than in Glorious North Korea.
Uh, I know the community likes to meme about peasant hovels and parasite infections and such but they won’t be living with Ukrainians, they’ll be chilling with Russian conscripts, will they be able to tell a difference?
Things in Russia might not be great, but they’re not on the same level as North Korea by far.
NK is genuinely quite successful at isolating its population, Russia is not. Russian living conditions aren’t horrible, they don’t experience famine and such, etc. They have internet, and many of them that are otherwise not technically inclined seem very well versed in how to evade the state censorship and control of communication. Other day I was playing D&D with some Russian friends when they started blocking Discord in Russia, and we figured out a workaround within the hour and within a day they had Discord working again, and these guys aren’t otherwise heavily inclined to towards computer shit. They’re above average level of user knowledge, but they’ve become knowledgeable in this very specific area.
From what my Russian friends say and I gather from their descriptions, it’s a lot like Republicans here; the ones that support Putin and the current government are doing it in spite of obvious evidence they have no trouble seeing.
Now I would assume they’ll isolate these North Koreans quite a bit, the language barrier will prevent them from talking to the average Russian and so on. The ones they bring home, for domestic propaganda purposes, will be the most loyal, willing to go on with whatever story they’re told to tell about their experiences.
If any of them get into actual combat then they’re gonna get turned into dog food. They have no experience and Putin absolutely only wants them as cannon fodder so he doesn’t have to do more unpopular domestic recruiting.
Russian doctrine has plenty of room for literal cannon fodder.

Citizens Fight Over Feces to Fill Human Fertilizer Quota in North Korea
Competition for human feces has become cutthroat in North Korea, as authorities have burdened citizens with impossible collection quotas to prepare fertilizer for next year’s farming season.
In impoverished North Korea, farms are fertilized using human waste, and the government tasks every household with yearly collection quotas.
RFA reported in January, shortly after leader Kim Jong Un’s New Year’s address, that households were struggling to meet an impossible quota amounting to 100 kilograms (220 pounds) per able-bodied citizen.
If you have access to a source of poop in North Korea, I assume that you’re not going to simply flush it away, even if you had the infrastructure to give you that option.
