From Peggy Smith

As I wish for more snow, here’s a throwback to one of my favorite autumn photographs.

New River Gorge National Park

Victor & Olga were Eastern Screech Owls that were cared for at Three Rivers Avian Center in Brooks, WV. They care for injured birds of prey and return them to the wild if possible. They do two fundraisers a year in the form of photography workshops. You get to photograph beautiful birds of prey, learn about them, all while helping support a wonderful organization. I am a lover of owls. I’m so lucky and happy to have captured this precious moment.

If anyone is ever interested in that stuff, let me know and I will post details. Lots of places do things like this, and I recently saw the rates for Ryan Humphrey’s wild owl photography tours are much more reasonable that I had imagines, and there are guys like the recent Saw Whet Whisperer post. I generally chop that stuff out of my posts because I don’t want to appear to be spamming for anyone, but if people are interested, just give me the word and I’ll share details.

I think like in this case how it’s sort of part of the story of the picture it’d be perfectly apropos to include a link or something like that. I mean, for me that sounds good.

This one was super cute. Most are like flyers, so they’re basically straight up ads, though still cute. More like this kind of thing:

Oh I see - Well, still fine by me. Like, if you’re spotlighting a story that came from there or the organization. y’know, why not?
