I came here to comment on the neat story and poke fun at the silliness, to find the same pedantic slapfights here.

I’m not too familiar with chrome books, i know some of them are insanely locked down to prevent this… but see if theres a linux distro compatible with your chromebook, and if its possible to slap a linux install on it.

AI is nothing more than a way for big businesses to automate more work and fire more people.

and do that at the expense of 30+ years of power reduction and efficiency gains, to the point that private companies are literally buying/building/restarting old power plants just to cover the insane power demand, because literally operating a power plant is cheaper than paying the energy costs.

For the common every day person its 3d tv and every other bullshit fad that burned brilliantly for all of 3 seconds before snuffing itself out, leaving people to have had paid for overpriced garbage thats no longer useful.

I mean, walmart could easily fix that by having fucking cashiers.

At the walmart I go to they put in like 60 self checkouts and have, maybe, one cashier running at a time.

I don’t mind self checkout as a concept. Its fine if you are just buying a couple things, or something you might be personally embarassing for you… but they are not a replacement for cashiers.

Cashiers and belts are needed to handle bigger purchases like monthly groceries and shit.

Unless you are gonna take 25% off my bill for labor savings, I am not going to take my monthly shopping through a self checkout. I had to once when I had no choice, and I’ll never do it again.

the problem is so many people are willing to say they’ll take a stand.

but when the time comes, the mindnumbingly overwhelming majority suck it up, because they must have their precious shiny and can not suffer even the mildest of inconvenience.

Its my biggest gripe in gaming, but its a enormous gripe just in general, with everything. because it doesnt matter if you are talking about appliances, creative software, video games, streaming services, stores, etc.

You have to understand shit like these thumbsnails arent made for people like you and me.

They are made for the mindless horde of sub-intellectual gremlins who are incapable of rational, independent thought. The kind that run out and put sandpaper on their windshield wipers and microwave their phones to “fast recharge” them because they saw a video that said to do that.
