It’s not satire if you intend it to be true but only say it’s satire later when being called out. Intent is very clear here. If your original post was satire you wouldn’t have started this thread wit the title “liberal mods can’t handle me”

dear liberals
liberal mods cant handle me
how the elites are using minion memes to control our minds
YDI. You sound like an alt right troll, honestly I’m surprised he didn’t ban you for that, he should’ve. It’s one thing to shitpost, it’s another to post alt-right conspiracy garbage. Which is generally not welcome anywhere on Lemmy
Honestly you have a lot of nerve coming here whining about being censored for conservative conspiracy theory trash, considering this is a leftist-friendly instance the community is on.
Ah thank you for pointing that out, I’ll make sure to CC them instead next time.
YDI, if you believe a community or instance doesn’t have a legitimate right to exist because it’s dangerous you need to report the dangerous content instead of simply downvoting them to suppress them. Also mass downvoting whole communities or users does count as an act of vote manipulation or abuse.
So to recap, you’ve not avoided reporting content you believe to be dangerous, but also have engaged in abusive voting behaviors. Voting patterns that many instances (not just communities) would indeed ban someone for.
Yeah, it seems to have gotten way way worse since I made this post. Also he finally locked it because he couldn’t censor people’s comments fast enough and wasn’t getting enough positive interaction for it to be worth it.
I ended up actually taking over his other community [email protected] and the first thing I did was permaban madthumbs with content removal and the community posts shrank to almost nothing. Just goes to show how little actual people actually care about these communities. Yet some idiot tried to argue I’d somehow make them popular, which still hasn’t happened.
I don’t know what you were expecting going in to the topic with such hostility and aggression, whatever it was I certainly can’t blame those mods for removing your comments, honestly I’m surprised they didn’t ban you from the community for that. You absolutely deserve it.
I very much disagree with their sentiment considering that many offenses like harassment and ban evasion are quite serious. I’ve dealt with some of that from one specific user (who went as far as to threaten to kill me) and the fact that people are still unaware of the real problem associated with that user is preventing them from being banned, and causing people to just go off about things that are not actually problems.
Probably would suggest to wait for a while, or maybe just do it and let people come. People who hate [email protected] don’t have to use it or browse it do they? No they don’t, but it provides awareness for abusive moderation, despite the fact many abusive mods despise it.
Something like this for users though should only be done for serious offenses, like harassment, threats, or encouragement of suicide, and callouts should only really be made when a user is directly involved in the situation.
Personally I feel like that should be it’s own separate community since those people aren’t really powertripping, they’re just being assholes. Powertripping is something only community mods can really do.
[email protected] is only good for Mod abuse, it’s not for any of the other types of drama, like harassment, or persistent/aggressive trolls.
It’s from the sidebar on the complaining admins’s Instance, redlemmy.com, it’s the top line.
Small instance with respectful moderation staff
Yeah looking at this I’m not so sure about that. Seems like a very big PTB to me.
I’ve never had a problem with Beehaw users, it’s not like with Hexbear where people there are assholes who will attack you. Their only issue is the heavy-handed moderation, though my experience with Beehaw users has been few and far between, and that’s not a coincidence, but rather a negative side effect of that heavy handed moderation, since Beehaw has defederated from the largest communities and over-zealously bans users from the instance. Which has the effect of isolating their community, and their users.
From what I remember a lot of people who were joining Beehaw in the earlier days of Lemmy ended up switching to lemmy.world, sh.itjust.works, or lemm.ee because they were missing out on all the content.
Beehaw is known for being way too heavy handed in moderation, though it hasn’t been too much of a problem because they decided to defederate from the large instances, which really killed the majority of the network effect they originally had in the fediverse. Honestly I’d just recommend staying away from them, they’re not a bad instance but you will encounter and deal with a lot of petty shit like this in their communities.
This is not your community, we do not have to answer to you here. Thank you for proving to us that you’re still a PTB.
This was a long time coming considering it’s a troll community which consistently posts incomprehensible garbage, people are usually quite vocal when it comes to speaking out against troll communities which either contribute nothing to Lemmy as a whole or worse, are harmful to the health of the instance. Which many believe spamming and trolling are, and I can’t say I disagree with them. I’m actually surprised Madthumbs didn’t lock the community sooner, looking at his modlog where he bans anyone who criticizes his community, or opinions, I’d expect him to have locked the community much sooner.
I think it’s very funny that you still think a community like this is satire when madthumbs consistently and repeatedly banned people for satire and humor, then banned them for criticism when they realized it isn’t satire. It’s also funny you say this is a “space people were having harmless geeky fun” when it was never that, it was really just madthumbs consistently complaining, posting misinformation, or just posting absolute nonsense. So trying to say it was a “group” or “space” is very disingenuous.
This seems like a dumb question, BitTorrent absolutely is still relevant and probably the most popular method of file sharing in the scene. Foss groups use it too for distributing ISO files for Operating systems, and it might even be used as the video hosting provider in future Fediverse YouTube alternatives (I’ve heard talk of a video hosting platform on Fedi which uses activitypub for everything else but hosts videos via BitTorrent) pretty cool stuff.
So yeah BitTorrent is still relevant, and it makes sense since if it isn’t broken why fix it? Not to say that it couldn’t be better, the biggest problem with it is the anonymity issue, but until someone makes something better BitTorrent will continue to be popular, and the ideal choice for decentralized file sharing, especially in the piracy scene.
People don’t get it because it’s not humor and it isn’t funny. It’s just complaining about things, many are often nonsensical. Also who’s “we”? He locked that community and as far as I can tell you’re not on the Team so there isn’t really a “we” anymore, if there even was one to begin with.
Even if madthumbs wasn’t serious about any of the other posts he made in his community, he’s 100% serious when he says that it isn’t satire, otherwise he wouldn’t be banning people for “linux evangelism” or humor. He also wouldn’t have locked every post in that community and the community itself. It’s not a satire community, he’s 100% serious. That’s why people say he’s a troll.
it can also be read as a clumsy misspelling of “idiot” which is probably why I’ve never seen someone use that acronym. Acronyms or shortenings are meant to make things simpler, but at a glance people might just think you’re calling me an idiot.
Though even if they get it, they still almost certainly don’t agree with you, and I can’t say I blame them.
