There has to be some Luigi’s Mansion-subreddit they could jump over to?
Luigi’s Mansione
Remind me, just how long did it take them to ban thedonald?
Years bro. The absolute dregs of society gathered there and it took years to ban it.
First 4 chan leaked the fascists to reddit and now they only shoutbtoneach other and need new victims to listen to their bullshit.
Thats why they are here. The need an (annoyed) audience.
Years. Then they banned the chapo subreddit to prove it wasn’t political.
In the past, they would ban a bunch of hate subs to poison the well on any reddit alternative, but I think they’re reluctant to ban any right wing subs because of how marketable that group is.
Tanky or Linux. Pick a side.
Linux is too broad. It should be “arch btw.” and everybody else.
Semi fascist mods from reddit seem to leak to non political subs here on Lemmy too.
Could someone please explain to me how I can access the public mod log? I would love to know why I’m banned from memes at lemmy.ml … it has something to do with china being closer to fascism than communism… but I can’t say more about the core reason. Except maybe… don’t discuss with a mod or it’s cronies.
Go to the instance in question, scroll to the bottom of the page, click modlog.
You were rather predictably banned for criticizing China. You hit the nail on the head with your last statement, if a .ml mod or admin are participating in a given thread, don’t even bother
Thank you!
No prob. Sorry you had a rough run in with that group, it’s unfortunately an all too common problem.
You were probably banned from .ml. because speaking against the hive there falls within their vague “everything we don’t like is a rule 1 violation!”
I imagine if they were properly communist, the US would have never allowed them to rise. There’d have been assassinations, coups, and purposeful destabilizations like we saw in south america.
Do you mean China? So, just to frontload this - I don’t think China or any Marxist-Leninist states managed to be properly communist, outside of symbolism. There’s material reasons for that, too, mostly that the cycle of capital accumulation from labour -> reinvestment into productive forces continued in an exploitative way. Both Mao and Stalin wrote things trying to justify that dynamic persisting, Mao’s most damning comment comes from a footnote on a document from 1953, which can be found as “On State Capitalism” on marxists.org. Stalin meanwhile wrote “Economic Problems of Socialism in the USSR”, which has intersting stuff like “The Law of Value Under Socialism”, and was very influential in China.
But at the time of the Chinese Civil War and Mao’s faction winning out, the US simply wasn’t the powerhouse of international meddling it was, yet. Even so, western allies tried to focus their support on the Chinese Nationalists and KMT, but they proved to be too incompetent and disorganised at the time. When the US started to court the People’s Republic of China again much later, it was because of the conflict between the Soviet Union and China, as well as there being a huge market for industrial and consumer goods, as well as for investing accumulated (dead) capital beckoning.
Point being: It’s a bit of a fallacy to imagine the US as this omnipotent international imperialist, especially before the Cold War. Not that they don’t do a lot of meddling, but they aren’t able to just do anything to anyone everywhere (even though secret services, be it CIA, FSB or Mossad - they will always want you to believe in their omniscience and omnipotence).
I can’t link to it, because I’m on the app, but the modlog says a rule one violation (civility), with no removed or quoted comment, so………
? But the comment got deleted… okay. At least I am relieved. Thank you for looking it up!
I came here to get away from Reddit. Not only is it becoming more and more like it, too many posts in my feed are about it. If I wanted to go back there I would. Haven’t been in at least 14 months. Please go to Reddit to complain about Reddit.
Lemmy has always been reddit but with less people, if not even worse in the moderation aspect. You simply noticed it recently.
I disagree.
Lemmy is also a link aggregator which works in a similar way to reddit, but it has it’s own history, culture, and quirks.
Sure, things will happen on Lemmy which are reminiscent of reddit because they’re both link aggregators, but to say lemmy “is” reddit is very reductive.
All of the differences are semantics or nitpicking. Of course it has its own history - it didn’t spin off reddit. It isn’t a clone from an alternative universe. The point is - it’s a link aggregator / social media, with the very same problems reddit has. It has issues with moderation, it has issues with powertripping, with users, etc. “Getting away” from reddit, going to Lemmy and complaining about it becoming too much like reddit means OP has never realized that there aren’t any meaningful differences. The users aren’t any better. The mods / admins aren’t any better. The quality of posts isn’t any better. Federation doesn’t mean much to a regular user.
If you read some of the posts about reddit on here, you’d think reddit is some hellhole with lemmy being a perfect site.
“Free speech.” Fuck Spez and his sycophants.
Fuck Spez.
Speznaz
Yeah reddit has a CEO after all
You may be onto something…
Spez is probably heading to mar a Lago now to make his $1mil “donation”
(Via Masto)
There’s a very long queue for sucking Donnie’s chode.
He’ll be looking over his shoulder
Every radical (or at least perceived as radical) sub ends up like this.
Ehem, it’s only the wrong kind of radical that gets banned there.
Try to say something about Israeli genocide of Palestinians and they will ban you straight away. I’ve been there.
Got banned from the default politics sub for pointing out that the reason hamas has support is that the palestinians see them as actually doing something about the oppression, unlike the palestinian authority that just rolls over.
Was told that was “violent content”. The enshittification continues.
Try taking about Palestine’s poor attempt at an Israeli genocide and it goes just as badly. Most mods just ban opinions they don’t like. It used to make me mad, now I think they’re just sad little authoritarians ruling their little teacups.
I have never ever seen pro-Israeli users being banned, although they should be as they were often supporting terrorism and crimes against humanity.
That really isn’t true. There have been plenty of far right subs banned.
Not in entirety, and not with alacrity.
Right, radical communists are free to roam the reddit as they please
The radical stamp collectors don’t seem to be stirring up any trouble.
those motherfuckers
Sneaky postage cretins.
Don’t even get me started on those filthy numismatists.
COIN GOBBLERS
WHAT DID U CALL MY MOM??
.world might be next with the Luigi banning…
But the more important question is, will it be Elon Musk or Anderson Cooper who first calls Lemmy pedos?
Fortunately/unfortunately Lemmy isn’t big enough to move the needle on any of these conservative’s radars. Until it proves that it can influence a significant fraction of their demographic they don’t care.
Oh well. Federation makes this a non issue.
Yeah, from what I understand, .world is hosted in a country where suggesting that someone should die is really not allowed, so, it makes sense (if the person that said that was accurate). At least its not virtue signaling or adhering to the whims of the rich like over at R.
Why would .world be banned?
They mean that the Luigi Mangione community on .world will probably get banned.
Fuck Reddit
Is there a similar community here on lemmy?
I found [email protected]
It’ll get banned on .world for the same reasons as Reddit.
Nothing will meaningfully improve until the rich fear for their lives
And yet it’s been there for 12 days and the admins have done nothing. And it’s not because they’re unaware it exists.

Tell us more.
Sure thing. Just after I delete your post for violating our ‘be respectful’ rule:
The Lemmy.world server is in The Netherlands. It is illegal in The Netherlands to call for violence or assassinations. We think Lemmy.world staying up is more important than your perceived right to say whatever you want whenever you want.
Note that any post not calling for violence or assassinations does not get removed.
Any more questions?

I take that back. That would be the third time. The first time was with JonsJava. We’ll see you back here mid-week if you choose to return.
That would be the second time you violated our civility rule. I would suggest not doing it a third time if you wish to remain here.
I hope it doesn’t.

Wtf? I searched before I asked on fedia.io and found nothing. Now I do.
Thanks btw. Subbed.
Sites do not know about remote communities by default. Someone on your local site need to search their whole group address (group@remotehost) to make it known.
The fediverse, despite appearances, is local-first. Lemmy requires legwork to work with remote sites.
speaking of local sites not everyone wants to see Lemmy. @[email protected] use federation links instead
