First 4 chan leaked the fascists to reddit and now they only shoutbtoneach other and need new victims to listen to their bullshit.

Thats why they are here. The need an (annoyed) audience.

Years. Then they banned the chapo subreddit to prove it wasn’t political.

In the past, they would ban a bunch of hate subs to poison the well on any reddit alternative, but I think they’re reluctant to ban any right wing subs because of how marketable that group is.

Semi fascist mods from reddit seem to leak to non political subs here on Lemmy too.

Could someone please explain to me how I can access the public mod log? I would love to know why I’m banned from memes at lemmy.ml … it has something to do with china being closer to fascism than communism… but I can’t say more about the core reason. Except maybe… don’t discuss with a mod or it’s cronies.

Go to the instance in question, scroll to the bottom of the page, click modlog.

You were rather predictably banned for criticizing China. You hit the nail on the head with your last statement, if a .ml mod or admin are participating in a given thread, don’t even bother

You were probably banned from .ml. because speaking against the hive there falls within their vague “everything we don’t like is a rule 1 violation!”

I imagine if they were properly communist, the US would have never allowed them to rise. There’d have been assassinations, coups, and purposeful destabilizations like we saw in south america.

Do you mean China? So, just to frontload this - I don’t think China or any Marxist-Leninist states managed to be properly communist, outside of symbolism. There’s material reasons for that, too, mostly that the cycle of capital accumulation from labour -> reinvestment into productive forces continued in an exploitative way. Both Mao and Stalin wrote things trying to justify that dynamic persisting, Mao’s most damning comment comes from a footnote on a document from 1953, which can be found as “On State Capitalism” on marxists.org. Stalin meanwhile wrote “Economic Problems of Socialism in the USSR”, which has intersting stuff like “The Law of Value Under Socialism”, and was very influential in China.

But at the time of the Chinese Civil War and Mao’s faction winning out, the US simply wasn’t the powerhouse of international meddling it was, yet. Even so, western allies tried to focus their support on the Chinese Nationalists and KMT, but they proved to be too incompetent and disorganised at the time. When the US started to court the People’s Republic of China again much later, it was because of the conflict between the Soviet Union and China, as well as there being a huge market for industrial and consumer goods, as well as for investing accumulated (dead) capital beckoning.

Point being: It’s a bit of a fallacy to imagine the US as this omnipotent international imperialist, especially before the Cold War. Not that they don’t do a lot of meddling, but they aren’t able to just do anything to anyone everywhere (even though secret services, be it CIA, FSB or Mossad - they will always want you to believe in their omniscience and omnipotence).

I came here to get away from Reddit. Not only is it becoming more and more like it, too many posts in my feed are about it. If I wanted to go back there I would. Haven’t been in at least 14 months. Please go to Reddit to complain about Reddit.

Lemmy has always been reddit but with less people, if not even worse in the moderation aspect. You simply noticed it recently.

        I disagree.

Lemmy is also a link aggregator which works in a similar way to reddit, but it has it’s own history, culture, and quirks.

Sure, things will happen on Lemmy which are reminiscent of reddit because they’re both link aggregators, but to say lemmy “is” reddit is very reductive.

All of the differences are semantics or nitpicking. Of course it has its own history - it didn’t spin off reddit. It isn’t a clone from an alternative universe. The point is - it’s a link aggregator / social media, with the very same problems reddit has. It has issues with moderation, it has issues with powertripping, with users, etc. “Getting away” from reddit, going to Lemmy and complaining about it becoming too much like reddit means OP has never realized that there aren’t any meaningful differences. The users aren’t any better. The mods / admins aren’t any better. The quality of posts isn’t any better. Federation doesn’t mean much to a regular user.

If you read some of the posts about reddit on here, you’d think reddit is some hellhole with lemmy being a perfect site.

.world might be next with the Luigi banning…

But the more important question is, will it be Elon Musk or Anderson Cooper who first calls Lemmy pedos?

Fortunately/unfortunately Lemmy isn’t big enough to move the needle on any of these conservative’s radars. Until it proves that it can influence a significant fraction of their demographic they don’t care.

Yeah, from what I understand, .world is hosted in a country where suggesting that someone should die is really not allowed, so, it makes sense (if the person that said that was accurate). At least its not virtue signaling or adhering to the whims of the rich like over at R.
